On Auroville 2022 to 2025

A similar attitude has been adopted by the Government in taking over the management of the Auroville affairs and orchestrating its hold and control of most of the functions the community had established; likewise, as regards the missing lands for the consolidation of the city area, officers and bureaucrats were called in to lead the negotiations and trade lands situated outside the circle (most of them dedicated to forest and farming) for lands still privately owned within the perimeter, an exercise which has grossly encouraged further speculation and corruption and caused much disarray amongst a number of Aurovilians who had worked and cared for these lands. Thus it can be said that the Central Government‟s intervention has generated, in perhaps equal parts, much distress and much satisfaction; some of its effects and consequences are irreversible, since the amounts of public funds that have been spent and invested imply a long term engagement and the sustained exercise of an intensive control. Some, in Auroville and elsewhere have at once rejoiced in this development, while others have at once deplored it as the funeral bell of the adventure (considering other such unfortunate takeovers by the Government administration). However, in order to serve the true Consciousness, it is indispensable to distance oneself from all opinions, reactions, preferences and judgments, as from all regret and fear, and to offer it all to the Grace.

How is Auroville to progress towards its goal? We hardly know at all!

And the goal of Auroville, what is it in truth? Is it singular? Is it not constituted of successive levels or states, depths, thresholds?

From the very first days, it is possible to observe, in the behaviour, the attitude and the motivations of all those who wish to join the adventure and learn how to give themselves to it, differences of approach and meaning: some aspire to transcend the barriers that divide humanity and to discover, along with kindred souls, the ways and means to reach a beginning of unity; others are inspired by the possibility of realizing a continuum of cohesive and lasting existence between Nature and humans; still others wish to engage in the research into new forms for a more harmonious collective life; and there are those who are moved by an inner aspiration for a living, concrete union with the divine Presence, by the grace of the Truth-Consciousness at work and, amongst them, some may be ready to commit to a more intensive discipline so as to try and follow Sweet Mother‟s Yoga in the body, the corporeal consciousness.
