And, according to the nature of their engagement, all those who have made the c hoice to serve the Auroville‟s ideal, have corresponding needs and their respective responses may vary considerably towards such or such circumstance or difficulty. Yet, little by little, the fluctuating community of Auroville has developed, through it all , a recognition of what is named “the Spirit of Auroville”, which is at once a Presence above, a kind of invisible Law, of imprescriptible but always active Code of conduct, and an ideal orientation that is living and valid for each and all without exception – whatever may be one‟s actual capacity to be faithful and receptive. Sweet Mother has shown us that, the more one is in contact with the true inner being, the more clearly one is led to the situations, activities, circumstances and environment that ar e the most favourable to the integral progress of one‟s consciousness – or rather, that the very force of this contact influences the outer reality in favour of the most central and necessary progress of the entire being. There can be no single rule for everyone. Thus it may be wiser to let the individuals assemble according to their deeper affinities and to develop the collective organization accordingly; in this way, several concentric circles may coexist, and one may belong to one or the other as per the stage of one‟s development. Each individual receives from and contributes to one‟s corresponding circle – receives what one truly needs personally, and contributes through work, resources, creation, or concentration to the needs of the collective, at the service of Truth. Each individual participates to the dynamic cohesion of the whole, by producing, maintaining, creating, serving, discovering, helping the whole to sustain itself and all its parts, along with the progress of the entire community.

Auroville was born on the soil of India, issued by the Avatar Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.

Since its very first hour, even since its conception, the assent and participation of the Government of India have been integral part of its formation and growth.

Along the years, many researches conducted in Auroville have made possible an increasing communication of knowledge and skills with various departments or agencies of the Government or supported by it and many significant episodes of collaboration and mutual aid. Whichever may be, yesterday, today or in future, the political party elected to head the Central Government, its ministries and cabinets, offices and satellites, the multitude of its servants and instruments, all must give their best at all times to serve the entire nation.
