On Auroville 2022 to 2025

of one single conversation that the actual shape of the Matrimandir was found, from four possible options, to two (an egg shell and a sphere), to one: the sphere. It is also during that conversation that Mother insists with great force on the necessity to move beyond oppositions, dualities and contraries, to emerge out of all sorts of exclusivism. More than fifty years have indeed passed and we have yet to conceive, together, of a basic infrastructure that would be able to serve a population of 50,000 individuals. There are reasons for this tardiness: to begin with, we never had the kind of capital funding required to work on such a scale; there have been numerous ordeals on the way; the general demography and rush for blind development all around has hampered and interfered with o ur efforts at regional harmony… One “internal” reason, however, for this long -drawn, hesitant, uncertain and conflicted progression is the misunderstanding arising from an exclusive interpretation of this Galaxy model, making it into a sacred blueprint for Auroville‟s future, regardless of all circumstances and changes occurring in the world and in our awareness of it all. This insistence is the cause of entrenchments and positionings that are in direct contradiction with, precisely, the Spirit of Auroville, which demands that we move away from all exclusivism and learn to integrate all truths in one ever richer becoming. We, here in Auroville, are very rich: rich with the formidable treasures They have given, rich with the unique privilege of this possibility of conscious growth named “Auroville”, rich with the call of a future that includes and gives its right place to every truth alive, if only we learn, together, to trust the power of true consciousness, its power to harmonize and reveal the wholeness yet to come. (I would like to encourage everyone to read carefully the conversations recorded in the month of January 1970 – when the center of Auroville was actually born: how Mother works, what are the priorities for the progress of humankind into the next step; Her words on those days were not heeded, yet they ring so urgently today!)
