with Sri Ganesh
Sri Ganesh, These are days of reckoning And today, Wondrously attired and adorned, The leader of all entities and powers, You advance, A slow majestic dancer Gliding through the ranks, Harmonies outflowing from your figure In streams of beauties And treasures of knowing, Issuing fire and light and nectar And gathering all hearts To Her arms.

Again I feel annoyed by the absurdity of the approach that seeks to place historically the appearance of Lord Ganesha and the successive stages in the evolution of his form, his figure, his role and his status, an approach which is found in most of the books dedicated to him; for it effectively reduces the existence of Lord Ganesha to a human creation or a collective invention based on human needs and convenience, over a period of 15 to 20 centuries – a ridiculously short period when measured against the span of human evolution… Why do I find this approach absurd? One must respect it: it is honest mental enquiry, honest search for facts and evidence, honest description of what has been found and, mostly, honest conclusion. But, if that was all there is to it, one ought to free humanity from all these creations once and for all… Yet, how can one be definite in any other approach? The need for objectivity is legitimate: one must ascertain that such and such reality exists independently of one’s own perception or even experience of it. It is fairly easy to be conclusive as regards the objective reality of “the Divine” – of divineness of being, or even of supraconscience; one can be definite about the objectivity of It, independent and permanent, both timeless and ever-present.
