and harmony of Nature, discreet in its majesty, we have collectively accepted and welcomed an ostentatious version, fully exposed, loud and glaring and fame catching, the impact of which has further alienated us from our centre of inner resourcing and has contributed to a widespread incomprehension or a frightful misunderstanding as to the very aim of Auroville and its relationship to the spiritual reality. Instead of serving the Force of the Shakti at work for a terrestrial future of progressive harmony, beyond all the gods and their symbols towards a living and concrete realization of the fundamental unity of all that is, we now must answer endlessly about the reasons and objectives of this gilded globe, so costly to maintain, set in its presentoir of calibrated greenery like an object of luxury in a shop window, supposedly consecrated to that supramental sun which is meant to reign over all. And the fifth deviation, probably inevitable as it is a consequence or confirmation of the other four, has arrived with its ready vestment of evidence and conviction, legitimized by numbers and the increasing difficulty to actually and freely communicate constructively: our tentative adhesion, weakly conditional, to “democratic” processes, beginning with voting, and t he right of each adult participant to vote. And naturally all the practices and tactics relative to it have thus been reintroduced in our midst and further impoverished us, affecting and hampering our collective capacity of mutual trust, receptivity and intuition. Lastly, the sixth deviation, which as a matter of fact invited itself as soon as Auroville was born, consists in our irresolute acquiescence before the affirmation of a sacred plan, figuring as a doctrine and a law impervious to any questioning: it is thus not the most recent of our deviations, as it could well be situated in the first place; however, along the years, it did have its usefulness insofar as it served as a constant reminder of the truly collective dimension of Auroville, in the sense of proportionate representation of humanity as a whole, and therefore of the necessity as of the duty to reach for a creation that would be sufficiently eloquent and appreciable as a proof, model or testimony of another, a new and higher quality of terrestrial existence. Yet, allying themselves to the other deviations mentioned above, the volunteer partisans of this “unquestionable” plan of superior origin, even though it has been manipulated numerous times and remains unready for any practical execution, erected themselves as the missionaries and spokespersons of the truth of Auroville. And in this fashion, the society which we constitute physically has found itself subjected to a tearing apart of approaches, instead of the balancing tension which has so far helped us not to become mired in one excess or the other. One might suggest a seventh deviation, from the point of view of Mother‟s Yoga, THE deviation which allowed for all the others: but how to define the poverty, the weakness, the smallness, the clinging that prevented us from giving ourselves entirely and unconditionally to the practice of Her indications? It is our arrogance, the arrogance of what does not give itself, which has propelled us in a false diversity of interpretations, in this debilitating theater of battling
