My experience of Satprem

The unknown

It is already, generally speaking, rather difficult for us all to even accept the objective existence of a Force of consciousness directly and concretely acting In Matter, independently of any human will. But in order to offer oneself to the action of this Force, one must have then realized, very high up, at the highest of our being and, very deeply, in the profound silence of our soul, where this Force comes from, what It is, what It wants. One must also have rid and liberated oneself of the clutch of all our fears, of the glue of all our sentiments, one must have conquered in oneself the shadow of doubt and have cleansed oneself of all these needs and cravings which keep us small and “human” – for this Puissance is absolutely indifferent to them all…! It is the Force of a State wherein neither fear nor death or the ego have any room to “be”. We are not really quite ready, in order to find Love, to leave our attachments behind, in order to find the plenitude of being, to abandon our recoils and our separate obscurities, in order to find the power of Unity, to leave the advantages of separation forever. And so, faced with this Puissance, we tremble, because we are still identified with all that refuses it the ground for its manifestation and we still cherish our ambiguous acquisitions more than we yearn for this true Freedom which is waiting. If sometimes we are prepared to “disappear”, it is so that we may drown in oblivion and nothingness. We are willing, when everything has failed, to renounce the terms of our individual existence, but then there must be nothing left at all…! And for us, this is altogether terrifying.
