From the therapeutic point of view all approaches appear to concur on one observation: the key to equilibrium is to be found in what is commonly referred to as the immune system, including the functioning of the glands – this public service for order, protection and harmony of the whole which identifies and repels intruders, reinforces defenses, sorts out, assimilates and distributes and rejects, which maintains and sustains good relations and well-being.
What we term as “health”.
This immune “system” of our body is in fact directly affected by the atmosphere in which we live.
And we learn in the detail of physical experience how much our psychological and mental condition bears on that of our organism – how for instance our brain is unceasingly busy secreting the elements necessary to the equilibrium of the whole: remedying, correcting,, compensating, stimulating, assisting. How each cellular function and each organ are mobilized, in turn or by groups or all at once and centrally coordinated, and how these operations are effectuated without the least participation of our intelligence and independently from it. And not only does our personal internal behavior has direct effects on the functioning of our corporeal organism, but we have many a time been able to verify that a simple contact with a higher or deeper state of consciousness has an immediate action with concrete consequences. An instance that occurs fairly frequently is this: one inadvertently burns or cuts or knocks oneself; if instantly one calls upon, right above, the impersonal, unmoving state of consciousness, the effects are immediate, the pain is neutralized and the affected cells are strengthened, that is to say that the healing process is considerably shortened and one can perceive the possibility of annulling the incident altogether. But already if, then itself, one keeps a great attentive and trusting calm, without any tension or contraction, concentrated on the concerned part, blood soon stops flowing,, the bruise is reduced to a mere trace, skin cells are repaired.
As if the disharmony that had intruded has been de-realized: undone.
This of course is only possible when trust is already partially established in the physical consciousness and the physical mind does not intervene with its narrow short-sighted alarmism and conformity.
