Another Choice

All the way above, a State of immobile eternity.

All the way below, the eternal Foundation.

Between the two, it is through the body that one must find – through Matter – a permanent unfolding, a State of constant forward renewal: the constant maintenance of cohesion uniting with the constant progress of incarnate consciousness.

Of course, this state of physical unfolding appears to us impossible and unrealizable insofar as we remain identified with the ego and with the sense of effort and performance.

But insofar as we are able to unite with the free and sovereign consciousness, this state then appears to us as the true normality of existence.

And all that contradicts it, we see this now, is issued from death.

However we gradually discover how complex the corporeal reality is, traversed and influenced by numerous agents and disputed by different determinisms and how miraculous is its capacity of cohesion. And there will be times when one will feel betrayed by some of the processes that dominate the behavior of the cells, as one engages in self-perfecting work or in a search for a right, exact and progressive harmony: for one is contending then with the imprints of death, those puissant signals which the cells remain compelled to obey, for reasons one as yet does not comprehend.

The body is like a person of basic goodwill who has been dispossessed of some capacities essential to its renewal and progress.

Why this dispossession, this loss and diminution, why this alienation, this contradiction engraved and set like a barrier or a deviation right into the genes?

Is it the outcome of a sort of curse?

Or is it a provisional measure until the human being finds its consciousness and unites with what must follow and replace it?
