… Paramashiva comes in an auto-rickshaw to the gate and sends for me: he is seated sideways with his left leg in a full length cast and tells me a long story which I can hardly believe, and asks for money, which I refuse to give and he leaves with anger, which I am not very good at deflecting… … Yesterday I was reading the correspondence between You, Douce Mère, and Shyamsundar, in 1969; twice there is reference to Ganesha as Your good friend, who had proved his friendship by bringing money for Your Work for 12 years – till the end of the 2 nd World War when the influx of families seeking refuge in the Ashram caused Your expenses to escalate. You also indicated that Ganesha had some influence on Shyamsundar’s ability to raise and channel funds for the Work and that You had seen Ganesha’s presence behind him. But, since in my experience this aspect of Sri Ganesh is not the most central, I wish You had, at least once, indicated other aspects or attributes that could or would be worthy as well for Your Work… But I guess that, in this matter as in so many others, no one was there to put these questions to You; or else it was not recorded, or has remained unshared. … In the face of the evidence of damage and intrusion here, I logically ought to consider alternatives to this daily service in my life in Auroville; but I refrain from pondering it, as it feels like betrayal or treason. I must rather trust that the way onward and forward will be found and allowed to develop according to its own truth within the truth of all. And of course there is also a degree of personal attachment: this has given me an anchor, provided me with a meaningful, albeit ignored by most, regular activity in and for Auroville and to now be deprived of it would be …, I don’t know …, I don’t know …!
