… In the afternoon, before watering the garden, I talked to Dr. Baskaran on the phone; he said further tests had not shown any identifiable cause for Parthy’s immuno-deficiency; he also said he was now satisfied there were no more pus cells in his body and that he felt the remaining swellings would gradually subside with continued medication and he could now safely be discharged and on Wednesday he would make sure all the reports would be ready for it. I phoned the news to Parthy right away, to confirm we would bring him back on Wednesday and to remind him he still had his work of cleansing to complete…!

This whole experience has made painfully clear that my consciousness is still veiled and my perceptions are still not clear, sharp or clean enough: there is still a sludge of formations, half-formed expectations and wishes, influences, selfish needs and all the ordinary muck of human physical condition obscuring, impeding and distorting…
