with Sri Ganesh

must always continue, but that You actually wanted it as an integral part of Your Work in Auroville…! Sushilla also mentioned, in relation to Sri Ganesh, that You commented to G. of Auro Orchard in French: “Oh, c’est un bon garcon…!” (“Oh, he is a good boy…!”)…: the Mother praising Her own son…!

Yesterday night a powerful and abundant rain came pouring over the entire area: it was sorely needed…

… I did all the accounts and saw that I had spent actually another Rs. 1,100/-. (Altogether I spent Rs. 7,200/- for the laddus, the transport for Suresh, the flowers, the fruits and miscellaneous). The donations that have come yesterday total Rs. 4,389/- (More than half of it is anonymous and Srinivasmurthy has donated 2,100/-, with a request for tax-exempting receipt). … This morning the Tamil newspaper featured several pictures of Lord Ganesha, in various guises and settings; some are striking a familiar note in my experience, such as that of a child kissing Ganesh’s face, or of an image of Lord Ganesh as a cricket champion (for his sterling qualities!), or of his stone figure being saluted and bowed to, in a forest sanctuary, by two adult elephants; others are to me mere symbols of people’ wishes. But I wonder again where is the border between a symbol and an actual answer as a presence? And, further, what is the actual connection between the Lord Ganesha as revered everywhere and the presence I experience here in this tiny shrine…? I don’t quite know; perhaps, even, I do not know at all! What I do know is that somehow my own inner process of realization has become closely associated with some part or some emanation of what is called “Lord Ganesha”; this, I think, is now beyond doubt and question. But what can be the significance, or purpose, of such association?
