with Sri Ganesh

… It seems to me that, whenever one wants or expects something from “the Divine”, one ceases at once to be open; I think it is automatic. It is probably different when one goes ahead with a course of action one is offering with one’s own courage and determination, while keeping full trust in the Divine’s Grace and Presence… But most people, I think, need responses in kind and this is why they eventually turn to “smaller gods”, entities with whom it is possible to conduct some bartering, or exchange of energies… Sometimes I too get confused: who is Lord Ganesha? Millions of people turn to Ganesh, worship him, address their prayers to him, cherish him – and each person is at a different level of development and even within each person there are varying degrees of awareness… One naturally expects from a “superior” entity – a god – that, being unfettered by the physical constraints and obscuring laws afflicting us humans, it will be more apt to manipulate or direct or at least influence events and circumstances than we are and the understanding we have of prayer and puja is of a necessary motion in a deal, like an investment…

Sri Ganesh, Today you are simply silent, At peace, Very finely set in repose, And your impartiality Is a mirror, A bouncing echo That sharpens The needed questioning Without which No offering can reach – So, my prayer is: Let this place be The abode of a clear joining Whereby you, Sri Ganesh, The Shakti’s Son, Become a door To the Lord’s Grace
