Early afternoon yesterday the rain started again and went on, with but a few breaks, through the night and it still continues… It takes longer for the ground layers to absorb that much water and even at this altitude (this being a plateau some 50 to 60 meters above the sea) many areas are now logged…

65 years have passed (my own age!)…

Last evening after a calm day and even a little sunshine, the rain returned and continued through the night, at times a slow rain and almost a lull and then a very dense downpour, all the way till after 6 this morning; then came a halt and, around 9 am, it poured again on and on till 11 am. Now it is all very still… By now, though, there are many areas in Auroville that are so logged that sewages do no longer function while, of course, in low-lying areas and anywhere near rivers or reservoirs, such as the Cuddalore area, there are thousands of people who must leave their houses or be somehow evacuated…
