Today, just a few weeks ahead of these emphatic celebrations of Her city’ 50 th anniversary, a rather droll and ludicrous squabble has occurred, among others : the Governing Board of the Foundation having recently announced its intention to invite, on the occasion of this commemoration, the participation of eminent members of the ashram AND of the Society, an indignant protest has risen. This intention of the Board is explicit : it is to leave the past behind and to celebrate the possible collaboration of all the parts of Their Work for a durable human unity and to allow the new generation to discover the living terms of this collaboration. The indignation too is legitimate, insofar as the members of the Society have never offered any sort of apology for their actions, and as those of the ashram have never clearly distanced themselves from the same. It would have yet been sufficient - and four decades were time enough – that everyone should recognize their wrongdoings and commit to serve the adventure on the same common ground and under the same inner laws, for the possibility of a puissant fraternity to be released and delivered. No doubt, one can approach this occasion with the smile of an equal goodwill towards all, but a dimension will remain missing, without which sharing and solidarity cannot actually incarnate : whatever may have been the contents of a conflict that has divided a family of souls, the act of admission and recognition is indispensable to its forward resolution.
