One is thus provided with the means of connecting to one’s preferred occupation, ignoring the actual physical presence of others who cease to matter as much, whom one can erase or mute at will by switching on artificial sensory sources – separate and seemingly independent of the gross physical reality we must all share.

And thus it is that our one common home is abandoned to the plunderers: while our attention is drawn, magnetized by the intensity of some illusory identification or communication, they enter everywhere and sack and gut all they want: will we wake up – and won’t it be too late? Earth, our sacred home, is sullied by these thieves that inhabit, use and counsel us: it is with our desires, with our human hands and brains, that they have acted for the worse.

Because, you understand, the question is serious: if for the world to exist as it is, it has to be really separate, and if being really separate is the cause of all misery, then...
