Another Choice

be direct and infallible, that true knowledge can emanate only from a consciousness of oneness and unity.

Our own individual path, as we have now experienced, becomes clearer only insofar as we can offer our separate will to the consciousness-force and its central impulse.

A strange perspective presents itself: in order to unite with this consciousness – the True, the Right, the Vast, “Satyam Ritam Brihat” -, one must accept to leave the shores of what one has known or believed one knew, of all acquired knowledge and received data and, in this fashion, to become again as an infant.

One must abandon one’s moorings, one must really and truly learn to rely only on That which alone IS.

But this question of the end and the means we cannot see clearly, for it is in the shadow of death: death covers and corrupts it.

Indeed it is death that convinces us we are alone – with it – in the universe, that we are abandoned to ourselves – and to it – for all our choices and that we can reach for no help whatsoever anywhere, as there is no other reality than this physical reality governed by its law.

Death remains the uncontested master of the physical world.

We are allowed to dream, to entertain such illusion as being at the service of humanity or of great altruistic causes which will survive our personal existence.

We are even authorized to ascend into more ethereal realms and therein to open to states that are superior to that of our ordinary consciousness, but where the physical world is concerned the governing law, ultimate and inalterable, remains that of death.

We may at leisure satisfy and comfort ourselves with an ethical conduct immaculate and beyond all reproach but, sooner or later, it is proven to us that this too is but fruitless vanity.

Humankind’ physical consciousness is as a whole hypnotized by death.
