Another Choice

Even if one is profoundly relieved to be freed from this incomplete, arbitrary, separate identity, many elements in oneself are still attached to it.

Therefore, rather than renounce it altogether, one catches oneself trying to find a superior meaning – a meaning that would make one superior - , or a subtler one, to circumstances as to any encounter, counting as proof of some invisible guiding presence which would have elected one and marked as emissary into the world, the seal of one’s exception.

The vital being will rather cultivate mystery than examine too closely its own egocentric motivations.

A scrupulous honesty and a great soberness are indispensable so as not to sidestep into the self-gratifying romanticism of the ever hungry vital force.

The inner being and the body’s veritable awareness do share a direct and simple comprehension of the conditions and can be cheated or impressed by no spectacular or “interesting” show, no matter how convincing: they want the truth, the truth in everything and at all times and whatever may happen, they acknowledge only Her.

For She is the door to love incarnate.

And in this manner does one stray a hundred times, to each time recover.

At first it is indeed oneself that one dislodges and unmasks behind those beautiful sentiments and elevated thoughts: the impostor, the usurper, the claimant.

Then as one’s uneasy progression unfolds, strewn with minor disasters among the various thorny thickets that are being pulled or torn out, those very parts themselves begin to appreciate the sense and taste of truth: whenever one reflects with some depth, approaches another person, takes an action, a need now arises to be in the true.
