with Sri Ganesh

… Yesterday afternoon I went to the market to purchase new stocks of incense and oil and camphor etc. for Rs. 700/- And I received a bill from AVES of over Rs. 7,000/- for the installing of the new cable and device; I phoned Arun to ask whether he could try to have this also covered by the Highway compensation fund…

… And yesterday too, Parthy “received” a 1’ statue, cast in the five metals, of Sinha Ganapati…

This is an interesting story: some time ago, Parthy had dreamt of this peculiar and very specific aspect of Lord Ganesha, wearing the upper face of a lion, a high tiara on his head, and ten arms. It was very large and had risen from the underground and Parthy had recognized it as if from past lives and, when he had approached it, he had realized there were old men all around watching him, in traditional dress, waiting to see what he would do, for they all wanted to touch Lord Ganesha and get his blessings but were afraid to come near him. Parthy then understood that, would he touch this figure of Sinha Ganapati - which was his natural confident impulse or inclination as he felt an intimacy with it -, all would rush to it and the scaffold or platform on which it was all resting or by which it was held up would collapse. Therefore he kept at a short distance from it but, even so, perhaps due to the weight of all these people, it did collapse anyway, and Parthy felt himself begin to fall with it; he called Lord Ganesha and at once found that he could, on the way down, hold on to one branch after another, till he very gently reached the ground… Recently, he met a young villager we both know who has learnt bronze casting from this very gifted sculptor and artist, Rajaram; Parthy explained what he had seen with the help of a drawing and gave some vessels of different metals and asked that this statue be ready before his daughter Maargita’s birthday on this 30 th . And this young man, Murugan, did a very wonderful, impressive, remarkable job of it and, yesterday, in a special puja at his tiny workshop, “opened the eyes” of this Sinha Ganapati and then handed the statue to Parthy, who immediately brought it to me in Sincerity. He’d asked Murugan to affix, behind Sinha Ganapati’s head, at the back of his tiara, a symbol of the Mother; and this is truly a magnificent and very moving creation; the expression is of a very high Kshatrya with deep compassion and understanding…
