with Sri Ganesh
… I do not know any of the rituals properly and my physical mind is unable to retain such lore anyway; and so, it is quite possible that I do certain things wrong… The offering of a coconut, for instance, is normally done, as I have gathered from frequent comments and reactions, leaving a tuft of coir on the head of the coconut; but not only do I remove that tuft, thereby exposing the three openings, but I also apply tilakam on all these three openings, for it is to me a perfect symbol: The One in Three – One Fruit, One Nourishment, With three openings, Three aspects, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva – … And so on… And this way I had arranged the 12 coconuts which Parthy had offered for the Chaturthy day, One At Sri Ganesh’s feet, Facing outward, marked With 3 tilaks, And 11 coconuts lined at the threshold of the inner shrine, As if an array of blessed Energies emanated into the world… Sometimes I must clear this issue within me = this is the Supreme I am serving, turning to, invoking, celebrating, surrendering to – The Supreme and no other… And yet it is also Sri Ganesh – It is Lord Ganesha’s manifestation specifically, uniquely, diversely, permanently… There is a point where there is no contradiction, for it is even so that the Mother is There…! It is the Mother’s infinite Presence and it is the Darshan Of That Presence that Occurs everyday – Yet it remains Sri Ganesh, And this season, since Chaturthy particularly, It is vivid with The light and fire and
Clean intensity Of Divine Love,
Aum’s tenderness, Aum’s embrace…
