… As I sit in to begin the puja, surprise…: Manikandan comes in, with a friend of his unknown to me, and offers some flowers. I keep quiet. Then they sit on the pebbled area before the shrine and wait quietly through the entire puja and the Aarti – more than an hour. Later, as I am sweeping around the Riddhi room, Manikandan comes up to me and very quietly asks to speak; he says he has been missing me so much and missing Sri Ganesh, and realized what a big mistake he’d made, that something had gotten hold of him and now that it had gone he was missing me; and so he had come to ask how to recover the support and the communication and the friendship… When he insists for me to answer, I tell him the only way to cure this weakness in him is to now, with a determination equal to his earlier intent to do harm, retrace his steps and apologize wherever this trail of destruction had taken him; that he must take some responsibility for it all if he is serious about it not to happen ever again; that this is not something which can be done for him, it is in his hands; and that, as for me, I want the truth of our friendship to be vindicated and his true inner being to conquer the weakness… I want to say “thank you”… It is an odd period in this regard: for instance recently, very unexpectedly, some of the residents of “Sagar Nivas”, all “devotees of the Ashram”, who had been so dishonest and devious with me 3 years back when I had to do so much repairs in the entire building, somehow had a change of heart and apologized to me and asked for a good relationship henceforth…! He doesn’t deny any of it, but simply asks to meet again. When I remind him that he must first act, he agrees.

Let us see, Sri Ganesh… These are steps that matter more than external developments…
