One may rightly, in extreme moments, transcend the reality of death by turning to the Lord, to the Supreme, directly behind death – That, the Supreme, without Whom death itself would not be. But then, it is also a fact that most of the time, in our consciousness, the Supreme is superseded by death: we give death more credit than we give the Supreme, as it exists, in our present condition, more certainly than does the Lord. In its own fashion and because of its absoluity, death, for us, transcends most of our notions of the Divine… And while I was going through this and seeing myself doing some sort of tapasya somewhere timeless, high on a mountain (perhaps a kind of old memory), I also felt, simultaneously, much concentrated golden fire, here itself, around and in Sri Ganesh …
O Sri Ganesh, Your flame is a golden rich,
Your fire is truly All five elements
Transmuted Into nectar, It is dense and fiery, Liquid and airy And subtly, Profoundly Homogeneous, A honey of Oneness And a burst of joy That cancels Death...
