… Last Saturday – day before yesterday – in the morning, Parthy and I had seen a large team hired by the Electricity Board installing a new pole in the field directly South of the compound (part of Auro-Orchard land); from its position, it became clear that they intend to lay the high tension wires over the Westernmost part of the compound, hopefully without any pole inside it. That same day in the afternoon, in our absence, they entered from the bunded side and hacked a number of small trees and saplings forming part of the natural fence, but they have not touched any of the larger trees. Manikandan has returned; he is bubbling with things to tell, over- loaded with energy; he sits and chants while I prepare for the puja… He has brought two small stones and some chocolate from the hills, to offer to Sri Ganesh. … Sri Ganesh, please take care of your abode – there is need of your pressure so that no disorder enters and we can proceed on the way of progress…
