with Sri Ganesh

- 11-11-08:

… Yesterday I was reading again Sri Aurobindo’s words on the path of devotion and the integral Yoga, the several steps before “one grows into the likeness of the Divine” and there is identification in a transformed vital and mental nature… I am not at all sure what to make of this peculiar situation I am in regarding this relationship with one aspect of the supreme, of the Lord, of Bhagavan, of That - which one calls Ganesha. The daily period of external dedication, with all that has to do with performing the puja, would normally not have any place with this yoga of Auroville. Yet there is in the physical being and history of Auroville that one single chance of a connection and I have somehow, oddly, unaccountably, been nudged into it, to do with it the best I can… Sometimes I become mentally worried, almost afraid, that all this is merely feeding self-delusion – but which self-delusion? It is as if I was placed at a crack in a wall and gazing through it at a world of delight and beauty and profound, potent significance; but I also need to retain the integrity of the physical being and reach for a basic, necessary objectivity in the experience, as well as a sense of its meaningfulness… I don’t want it just for myself”…!

Sri Ganesh, There is a gorgeous bounty, A profusion of sumptuous beauty Flowing from you, A beauty that is substance, That is multi-dimensional And therefore, integral – This Amrit of love Streams through the planes And knows no barrier And yet it is Perfect Equilibrium, It is sovereign poise – Ishwara and Ishwari, Pure principles, Course through the riches
