Yesterday I had sent a message to Muthu asking him whether he had any access to the National Highways staff through his local political contacts; this morning he came to the temple to meet me; we discussed what could or should be done, or at least tried… It is already late, as the Highways Authorities have already started work on a concrete culvert extension right opposite the temple outer wall on the other side of the existing main road. And it does not look like, from Auroville, much effort was made at all to ensure this place is left undisturbed (no one even ever came to see physically the situation). Muthu seems to be genuinely concerned, but not very hopeful; he mentions a type of action which might prove effective – printing out hundreds of posters protesting the interference with the Ganesh temple blessed by the Mother, etc. – but which I doubt very much I could ever acquiesce to…! I am obviously upset; but I must sort out my selfish attachment to this relationship that has developed with Sri Ganesh in the physical and material world… One ought not to depend on any form, isn’t it so…? What strikes me most these days in Auroville is a kind of ordinariness that is taking over almost every field, in the sense that priorities are shifting and what used to be meaningful and hold promise is now neglected or ignored…

O Sri Ganesh, You are silent… Are these glimpses of a work An illusion…?
