In the afternoon Parthy and Parasu come to clean the pond and clear some dead wood, and put a new padlock on the bathroom door – a couple of days ago I found that someone had cut open the padlock and taken a couple of brushes, a dust-pan, a soap-box, some strange theft, probably by the same person who earlier took a garden tool and a mug from near the tank. But today I also found, for the second time at least that I am sure of, that someone has somehow managed to rifle through my bag and opened my purse and taken all the cash, leaving only ten rupees – as a sort of boast or insult perhaps... And I haven’t the faintest idea who it could be...
