20 Our lives and our deaths

We confuse the sentiments that occupy and inhabit our personal domains with veritable love, with the actual capacity for love.

Humanity has reproduced itself far in excess.

A humanity subject to avidity, greed, covetousness and resentment, to egoism and exclusivism, a humanity inclined to lie, to abuse, to cheat and betray, that reproduces and proliferates without any restraint, leads to the abyss.

Must one count on fratricidal wars and on Nature’s ire and wrath to neutralize and reduce mankind’s blinded demography?

Must there occur a rampant and lightning epidemic such as that influenza that decimated and took millions of people at the beginning of the last century – right at the end of the First World War -?

And how then to dispose of so many corpses?

And these questions, these interrogations, are they monstrous?

Where does the monster begin?

How does the monster thrive and prosper in us till it alienates us even from the air and water of the earth, from its juices and its sap, from its atmosphere?

The more the psychic being develops and the freer it is from the ego and from all contingencies.
