somewhat distanciate ourselves in our consciousness and experience from the immediacy of corporeal animal needs.

For indeed, through the ages, we have been bound as if by a subtle cord to a model or template of the ideal human being which acts like a magnet, a measure, a reference, an arbiter and a god.

And yet today, this very ideal mo longer suffices. We require an answer at once more central and more direct, vaster and higher.
