Which town?

She watched the children, the little ones, She appreciated the intensity of flame and aspiration in the younger adults, She listened to the internal rumble of the eddies that whirled and broke in societies, She wanted to give them an adventure worth it all that would solicit all of their beings and would be useful, truly and profoundly useful to the Earth.

Neither spirituality nor science, by themselves, could serve or even recognize the new consciousness and She, in Her own body, was searching for a third way – of which signs were beginning to abound, another language, another reality in this “real world”. In Her experience of every instant, new perceptions of Matter, or new material perceptions, were flowing in or becoming conscious and, as a consequence, calling for new relations with Matter and the emergence or the revelation, perhaps by way of inspiration, of new forms. Beauty, She used to say, is the expression of the Divine’s presence in Matter and reverence for this Presence would be essential for the new creation – for the new consciousness.

One of the privileged visitors to the ashram was a French architect, R., a being centred in creativity and receptive to forms of the future. She invited him to take interest in this project of a town dedicated to a future of unity. The international dimension of the project in the contemporary climate excluded any concept of a collectivity closed from the outer ordinary world: its internal central force alone would have to secure the indispensable filtering so that this attempt may not soon become mired into a habitual slump.
