Which town?

An uncertain attempt, hesitant and subject to “relapses”, that yet, accompanied and sustained by sharing, fraternity, friendship and work, bore and yielded many fruits.

The Supreme Court pronounced in favor of autonomy for this international city at the service of human unity, under the protection of the central Government, which was thereby authorized to take legal possession of all the assets of the Society relating to this project. The Parliament soon endorsed and ratified a special Ordinance, a complex and detailed document, giving those powers to the Government for an indeterminate period of time, with the responsibility to ensure that the project would evolve along the way of its stated ideal: its role would thus be that of an attentive supervisor, intervening only in extreme cases and supporting the elaboration and harmonious growth of the organization of this international community. A first official representative was sent to the site: this would be a full-time mission. Technically, there were two of them: one, hierarchically superior, would make punctual visits, while the second would ensure the day-to-day permanence. Not only in practical terms – a place of residence that would behoove his social standing and the nature of his post -, but also in the life of the community: during those years of isolation and shortage, an original dynamic had developed, in spite of all the hurdles, grievances and misunderstandings, which was proving its worth and had become a source of direct learning to each of the participants – must one now renounce it One had to make room for him.
