Conventionally farmed, grain-fed meat is even worse due to all the toxins from the grains plus hormones, and it is chemically treated to look fresher longer. One of the tricks that meat packers are now using is the deadly poison carbon monoxide. 5 Carbon monoxide masks slime and decay, and also hides the smell of rotting meat. What is more, not being able to digest food properly causes even more toxic overload as the foods decay in the intestines. Most modern foods cause excessive free radicals, which are other forms of toxins that need to be neutralized. Toxins also cause inflammation. Some people believe that obesity is actually a “disease of inflammation” 6 because the hor- mones involved in inflammation also activate the FAT Programs. 7 Inflammation is a swelling of an area to protect an injury. When you think about it, obesity is often the exact same thing. Medication According to one doctor, the first lesson taught to medical stu- dents in pharmacology class is that all medicines are toxic to the body in some way. 8 The toxins in medicinal drugs can add to your toxic load, clog your liver, and make it that much harder for your body to burn fat.
