Towards Auroville

For who, what part of us human beings, can know what it is to be the “willing servitor of the Divine Consciousness”?

Up until May, 1973, one could still hope to communicate with Her externally, through one of Her secretaries, or even on one’s birthday one could still be given the grace of kneeling at Her feet.

And She could still try and speak of Her experience of the true consciousness that is to manifest in Matter to a few trusted aides.

And then Her door closed to all, but a few attendants and eldest disciples.

Aurovilians had to learn and rely on whatever measure of inner sense had awakened in them and, if and when they had the time for it, on Their written teachings. Auroville was born international, beyond borders and cultural divides and each individual choosing to join had therefore to make a great progress out of one’s conditioning: the adventure of Auroville immediately brought up most of the issues and questions facing humanity’s limitations and it was merciless in its scope and exigencies.
