My experience of Satprem

The identity of Auroville.

Time was passing and Auroville could not remain much longer in such a vacuum; the existing human laws could not integrate this new entity which belonged “to nobody in particular but to humanity as a whole”. Moreover, even if the SAS was still the legal owner of Auroville lands, it was not allowed to acquire or purchase more land, as its legal limitations were already reached. Yet many pieces of land had still to be bought if one wanted to consolidate the entire Auroville territory. It then appeared that the only viable solution, at least for the coming years and until the collective body of Auroville became able to formulate and propose a new legal status acceptable to all, was to request the Central Government of India to intervene. All sorts of discussions and debates took place over the weeks, which often seemed to be quite vain.
