Eventually Roger returned to the existing working plan and confirmed it, having worked out precise measurements for the contours on the oval island. There were only a few changes to his earlier concept for the sphere and the petals: the golden discs pattern would be altered to match the triangular beam- structure of the sphere; the height of the petals would be reduced, and grass would replace stone on most surfaces in the island. In the mid nineties the radius of the entire Matrimandir / Peace area was fixed, in agreement with Roger, Auroville's Future and Development Group, at 300 meters.
