Notes of conclusion

Once all is said, it is our view that the most wholesome solution for the Peace area is:

- To design the inner gardens in such a way, as attempted by Paolo, that it fills the entire oval island while preserving the primacy of the sphere reigning over it and at the same time manifesting the atmospheres that the Mother has evoked for each individual garden, elaborated in the Japanese way. - To design the water body around the island in such a way that all large existing trees are preserved, its width may extend here and there to that indicated in the Mother's original sketch, and it may be built in steps and maintained accordingly. (Recently completed studies and feasibility reports on the most appropriate methods and techniques to create and maintain water bodies in the climate and geological conditions prevailing in the Auroville area recommend that: the water body surrounding the oval island be constituted of a series of independent basins: that the sealing be effectuated by mixing a small amount of bentonite clay to the local soil according to a series of clearly defined steps.) - To complete the landscaping of the outer gardens / park in such a way that vistas are preserved on to the Matrimandir from different perspectives, that it provides the necessary environment and milieu for the island and acts as a transition from the city.

- To define the access and entry into the sanctuary at one point only, West of it, as per the design that Roger had already made.

We would recommend that as a first step the entire area, which had been earlier formally determined at a radius of 300 meters, is consolidated at the earliest, and all energies be invited to collaborate in the manifestation of this central sanctuary, in all its rich completeness.
