Another Choice

Today then, in the virtual space of human activity upon earth, with just a little curiosity and perseverance and a little refinement of intelligence, one may gain access to knowledge which was for long kept esoteric and secret, protected from the profane as from the ill-willed by a deliberate hermetism or an elaborate veil of metaphors and parables or else by abstruse formulae and forbidding practices. And where a great humility, a surrendered patience and an inalterable faith in the pursuit of the spiritual master’s acceptance were the requirements, there is presently a proliferation of eager sages and prophets, as well as of workshops of initiation to mental silence, manuals of oriented meditation and techniques of self-exceeding for all patronages.

And it so happens too – and principally so – that the time has come to offer the highest knowledge openly to all, in all its deepest nobility and its measureless wealth.

And this is what Sri Aurobindo and the Mother have done.

It is for each one of us all to learn responsibility.

The more one rises in consciousness or the more one nears the deeper truth within and the more one’s self-giving must be integral.

This is the veritable initiation, the one which nothing, no technique, no method nor any program can spare us from.

Because for very long we have constructed ourselves in the separation, we confuse power with being.

For very, very long, what seems desirable to us is to be able to do more, to have more power, in any and every domain.
