Another Choice

in other ways, with an inner certitude which is now established of the continuous progress of consciousness, how can we refuse it in the body, with the body?

By which means?

Is it then an unreal conflict, since it is deprived of a conscious foundation, of the support of consciousness, is it then a mere vain egotistic response of our attachment to form?

But no, we do feel that the presence within, the flow of the axis, are encouraging us to open the mesh, to seek the physical way, with the light and trust of this Life which can but recreate itself forward, in the peace of union. And thus begins another stage of the evolutionary work in our physical consciousness, however limited and insignificant: it is now a matter of discerning and identifying the inner movements which can, by uniting with the internal motions of the body, modify habits and open a receptivity, expose and then clear the sediments of defeatism, neglect, callousness and cowardly acquiescence to inertia and the call of the night. It is a matter of studying impartially, without judgment or emotion, the physiological responses to such or such incident or such and such thought and how the condition of the body is altered according to the transmitted models – a task of every instant which reaches no satisfying realization but, sometimes, touches a new track, a clear urge, a recovery and a new perception.

We have discovered that the body is moved or animated according to different times on different levels – parallel times to the rhythms of which operations or movements of different natures take place -, under an appearance, to the eyes of our ordinary physical consciousness, of cohesive stability.

Thus the time of the organs and the time of the cells are not the same, and neither are the spaces of their respective experience.
