Another Choice

And one must now plunge more lucidly and silently into the apparent penumbra of this subconscient that largely rules the very life of the body and the behavior of its cells.

One cannot at the same time be mobilized in an external action and concentrate in this difficult and unglamorous exploration – an exploration that however in no way isolates from the world but on the contrary creates a more direct contact with the amplitude of the necessary change.

And yet, be it that one still wishes or yearns to develop, cultivate and exercise one’s own separate forces, or that one still feels the need to see, verify and measure the action of the Consciousness through one’s own existence, one may remain identified with the obstacle more than with the solution. This now takes on the character of an altogether practical problem: the ego must disappear entirely – it must abdicate, melt, be dissolved – if the action of the new Consciousness, of the Truth Consciousness, is to take place through our physical individuality.

And it is then that one knows, concretely and completely, that one knows this: Consciousness alone has the power.

Truth-Consciousness alone can open the passage and change us.

And the whole alphabet of the path effectively sums up in this call, this call…

But where does this sense, this sentiment, this anguish of urgency, come from?

Earth is under threats: humanity is under threats, the whole of Nature is threatened, the enemy is within us, it is us, ready to savage and lay everything bare for the sake of these instants of pleasure, to continue serving this illusion of a separate existence – and Nature revolts and Earth revolts and its forces want to annihilate us and there is a howl and wail of distress everywhere and also a roar of pleasure still and so much physical misery there is and for what?
