Another Choice

And one is also individually confronted to a more redoubtable internal peril: for our ego – its structure and its habit of being still subsist – is tempted to get hold of this charge as of a new breath, or of a new role which would sublimate it and ensure a resumption of vitality. A kind of obscure pragmatism would incite us to accommodate this association by persuading us it is all for the common good – and it is necessary to proceed by stages: a dark radiance, heavy with egotist profits.

Our collective human history is marked all along with such opportunist hybrids, which capture a little truth and exploit it to their own ends: the law of death – and of the absurd – regaining control.

This is the ordeal and the test: have we truly chosen the integral conversion?

Or do we merely wish to amplify, enrich, ennoble and further energize our present personality?
