We understand that we must now re-learn everything, in a very different orientation.

For the separation which has made it possible for the ego to construct itself, as the external agent of the evolution of the individual consciousnesses, has conditioned us to situate the Divine very far from us in distant spheres and as if de facto apart from creation, or else to apprehend the very existence of humanity, of the earth, of the universe, as so many incomprehensible effects of an incommensurable material activity, or as so many phenomena of chance and hazard become life, intelligence and this multitude of distinct beings conscious of themselves – a situation out of which it is up to us now to draw maximal advantage…!

Why should desire be condemnable?

Our nature is animated by desire until the inner being has grown enough to remind us of our timeless source – from which one may clearly see the very birth of desire in separation itself.

Desire is neither a fault or a sin of which we would be eternally guilty, as some religions preach, nor a permanent constituent of creation, as is enunciated by theories derived from such spiritual experiences that advocate withdrawal and the extinction of the person into the formless absolute.

Desire is neither the partner of illusion nor the cause of existence.

It is a form that energy has taken on when separation occurred and ego had to develop in the ignorance of unity.

It is said that adversity is the touchstone of sincerity, it is said that the adversary plays the unenviable role that the Mother of the worlds gave it to play.

These are aspects of the truth, angles of approach of what must remain to us inconceivable.

None of these aspects can be cited as a justification for our vanities and cowardice.
